Porter Robinson - Lionhearted (Tubular Remix) Porter Robinson - Lionhearted (Tubular Remix)

Rated 3 / 5 stars

I would add some more little effects and stuff to the drops, they feel a bit empty... of course you got nice loud drums and vocal and lead but it's really the little, barely audible things that do the magic

at 3:40 and on I can hear some dissonance between the vocal and the background synth, not sure if that's intentional, but it doesn't fit to the rest of the song imo

the drop lead could be turned down as a whole, or EQed a bit more, feels a bit overwhelming

mix overall is not terrible but could use more tweaking, it'll get better as time goes (if you keep doing it :)

keep it up

the sidechain is a bit too hard to my taste, but I guess that's how this style works :)

Thanks! Yeah, the sidechain is rather hard, I figured I was pushing it a bit.

Flight (Pegasus, part II Concept) Flight (Pegasus, part II Concept)

hey there

something seems off about the low frequencies, either the sub isn't loud enough or it clashes with the sub of the kick, it helps to shorten the drum samples as much as possible (long boomy kick may sound good on its own but it can muddy the mix a lot), maybe highpass the kick around 60-80Hz...

I would also add some more hi-hats/cymbals/highpassed drum break to the main parts, to my taste this is too minimal

both piano and pads could be turned down a bit

also developing the melody more at later parts would be nice, I'm all into minimalistic approach, but this kinda leads to nowhere, overall vibe is nice though

and comparing your song to some similar, profesional one is always a good idea, maybe with anylizers like SPAN if you don't trust your ears/ sound system

hope this helps a bit, keep it up :)

SierraRising responds:

thanks a lot for the tip on the low frequencies, I definitely have to include that in the mixing process.
minimal is where I was heading with this track, but I will spice it up a bit more next time :)
strange, some other people off of NG that listened to it said the piano should have been louder. guess that´s a personal taste thing.
I rarely reference my tracks, though I probably should. I use SPAN vigorously on every project.
Your feedback is always welcome, you magnificent DnB beast :) thanks a ton, I appreciate it!

Monday Nov 08 2016 1318 - Sinister Banjo Monday Nov 08 2016 1318 - Sinister Banjo

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars

yup, sounds sinister

there's not much to rate on this thing, really, since this is a banjo solo played throught a keyboard, right

could work as a background music for some game/movie set in dark medieval or something, I personally wouldn't listen to this just like that, like a regular song, sounds a bit empty to me

good luck with your future creations :)

Kelpalots responds:

Oh dear. I couldn't possibly re-record this because those little messups make it sound like tongue and this music talks, in many ways really... But I made a lot better ones, I just deal with MS, so it's not always easy to maneuver. I make other genres but I love doing this. It's basically improv work that is done while it's recording. It means I play a track I did not rehearse while recording it. And as I already said I did use a piano keyboard. It has weighted keys however, and is very nice enough to be able to make this sound good. I know it could sound a lot better, but the tongue is going to be hard to re-replicate. Some of it isn't accidental. I enjoy it.

Just Tell Me a Lie Just Tell Me a Lie

Rated 3 / 5 stars

hey there, this is not my genre really but I'll write a few words anyway

I like the chord progression, vocals sound totally ok to me, musical side is just fine imo

the technical quality kills it a bit though, it's kinda muffled mess at this point - sounds like a 1 kbps mp3 to me, super noticeable at the higher frequencies, and I barely hear drums except hats/cymbals

it's a good thing to always publish a finished product, not WIPs and rely on other ppl's opinions, whether you should finish it or not

I think this is a great site for getting some fans and plays on your song, keep it up, post your songs into Audio advertisents or Review for a review thread on the forum

hope this helps a bit and good luck with everything :)
